The cornea is the first of the lenses we have available to focus on the objects correctly. The cornea is not a perfect sphere, but it has zones of different thickness and elevation. By means of the topography we obtain a map that shows us graphically those differences, as much of the external face as of the internal face of the cornea. It is an essential test to know its exact status and diagnose diseases such as keratoconus or any other condition related to this eye structure.
The test is very fast: 1 minute per eye. The patient should look at a light and keep the eye open for a few seconds. While the machine captures a series of images with which a topographic map of colors like the one we see in this image on the right will be created.
